Trading on the Internet in the UK is set to treble in 1998
Around half the value is business to business sales, the rest business to consumer.

Electronic Commerce is the Internet’s shop front. Commerce systems can range from ‘hands off’ automatic credit and debit clearance systems, to simple security measures to transfer customer card details.

The Internet can provide you with a store, which is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Low risk, low cost
The first year’s set up and running costs can equate to less than �30 per week. compare that to the costs of business rates, a salesperson, or even running a vehicle, and it’s excellent value for money.

Excellent trading conditions

There can be massive efficiency gains – all orders can come typed and ready to transfer into your own systems – without the need for re-keying. Marketing programmes can be built by profiling customer purchases and mailing specific targeted offers – building customer relationships, building profitable low-waste business.

Add a programme such as Adobe Acrobat, and you can E-Mail customers, brochures, fliers and catalogues; these can be exact replicas of your printed work, or created electronically without the expense and inflexibility which print sometimes brings.

Adding, subtracting and changing items and prices
This can be simple and straightforward using the catalogue system.

Building Business to Business and specialist product sales
Don’t think of E-Commerce as being confined to consumers. The Internet offers a Global, European, National, Regional and local market place. If your current market is confined to a small radius of your store, this can be an ideal way to ‘break out’.

People may not drive miles and miles to visit your wholesale or retail premises. The Internet takes your storefront to them, it can include product descriptions, photographs, catalogues, pricing and, if you wish, the means to shop and pay. Customers can do this when it suits them- your Internet store will be open all hours.
